Peter Velez

Peter Velez is the Senior Vice President of the Queens Health Network (QHN), the major health care provider in the Borough of Queens. Since the network's creation in 1994, Mr. Velez has aggressively pursued an agenda of regionalizing and consolidating services in order to maximize resources, and ensure service consistency.

Prior to working for QHN, Mr. Velez was a Senior Administrator with the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation since 1976, when he began his career as the Corporation's Vice President of Community Relations. He was subsequently appointed Associate Executive Director for Ambulatory Care, then Chief Operating Officer of Elmhurst.

One of Mr. Velez's most visible achievements was the $250 million major modernization of Elmhurst Hospital Center. He was actively involved in all phases of this monumental undertaking, from the project's conception to its completion in the Spring of 1997.
